Authorizing Your Biller for CHAMPS Access

By George RuanJuly 6, 2026

Rather than managing Michigan Medicaid yourself, Bomi can handle your billing and credentialing for you — so you can get back to seeing clients sooner.

CHAMPS — the Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System — is Michigan Medicaid's provider portal. It's where your biller verifies member eligibility, submits and tracks claims, works prior authorizations, and manages your Medicaid enrollment.

CHAMPS is a provider-controlled system: whoever first enrolled your practice is its Domain Administrator, and only that person can grant access to other users. So instead of sharing your login, you add your biller as their own user and give them full access. It is a one-time setup that takes about five minutes.

How to Add Your Biller in CHAMPS

Step 1 — Sign in and choose the Domain Administrator profile.

Log in to CHAMPS through MiLogin, select your practice, set the profile dropdown to Domain Administrator, and click Go. If you do not see a Domain Administrator option, see What to Do If You Lost Access to CHAMPS.

Step 2 — Open the Admin tab and choose User List.

Step 3 — Click Add.

Step 4 — Enter your biller's User ID.

In the Add Provider User window, enter your biller’s MiLogin User ID (their Single Sign-On ID). If Bomi is your biller, enter the MiLogin User ID we send you. Leave the start and expiration dates at their defaults.

Step 5 — Give them CHAMPS Full Access, then click OK.

In Available Profiles, select CHAMPS Full Access, click the arrow to move it into Selected Profiles, and click OK. CHAMPS Full Access lets your biller work every part of your Medicaid account — enrollment, eligibility, claims, and prior authorization. It covers every tab except the Admin tab, so control over who else gets access stays with you.

Which Profile Should You Pick?

  • CHAMPS Full Access — the one to choose for a biller who runs your Medicaid billing end to end. It grants full access to Provider Enrollment, Eligibility, Claims, and Prior Authorization, and covers every tab except the Admin tab — so you keep control of who else gets in.

  • Narrower profiles — if you would rather limit scope, CHAMPS also offers profiles like Claims Access (claims only), Eligibility Inquiry (eligibility only), and Prior Authorization Access (authorizations only). Most practices handing billing to one partner just use CHAMPS Full Access.

  • Domain Administrator — add this only if you also want your biller to add and remove other users. Keep at least one Domain Administrator in-house so you are never locked out of your own account.

Quick Summary

  • Sign in to CHAMPS and select the Domain Administrator profile for your practice.

  • Go to Admin → User List → Add.

  • Enter your biller's MiLogin User ID (for Bomi, the ID we send you).

  • Move CHAMPS Full Access into Selected Profiles and click OK.

Once you've added us, let us know and we'll confirm we can sign in. From there we handle the eligibility checks, claims, prior authorizations, and Medicaid enrollment through your CHAMPS account, and you can get back to your clients.
