Apple Health Telehealth Billing for Therapists

Telehealth billing is date-sensitive. Washington guidance, federal rules, plan manuals, place-of-service rules, modifiers, and audio-only treatment can change.
Short version: Use the current HCA telemedicine and mental-health guides for the date of service, then verify the member’s MCO requirements before submitting the claim.
Sections
Start with current HCA guides
HCA publishes a telemedicine policy and billing guide and a Mental Health Services Billing Guide. The current mental-health guide states telemedicine is covered under HCA’s Mental Health Services program and points providers back to HCA telehealth billing materials.
Then check the payer
If eligibility shows managed care, the plan’s authorization, coding, documentation, and claim edits may apply. If the service is HCA fee-for-service, use the applicable HCA guide for the date of service.
Telehealth claim checklist

Modality documented: video, audio-only, or other covered format.

Where Bomi Fits
Bomi helps therapy practices keep the operational layers aligned: HCA/ProviderOne enrollment, CAQH/DataSpring profile maintenance, MCO applications, portal access, eligibility checks, claim routing, denials, revalidation reminders, and first-paid-claim verification. The goal is not just an approval letter; it is billable access for the Apple Health members you actually see.
Operational note: This is general billing and credentialing education for Washington therapy practices, not legal, compliance, or payer-specific billing advice. Confirm current HCA, ProviderOne, CAQH/DataSpring, OneHealthPort, MCO, provider-manual, authorization, telehealth, and contract requirements before submitting enrollment, claims, or portal requests.
