Idaho WITS Sunset 2026
By George Ruan • July 14, 2026
Last verified: July 14, 2026.
As of July 14, 2026, Idaho SUD providers should treat the WITS sunset as an active operational transition, not a future notice to file away.
DHW’s WITS page is the source to recheck before acting because the dates and report-request instructions are time-sensitive.
Short version: Move clinical operations into the provider’s own EHR, complete eligible WITS billing by the published cutoff, request needed reports, preserve read-only access while available, and prepare for final access shutoff.

What Not to Confuse
Dates to Recheck
July 1, 2026: providers should be operating in their own EHR.
July 30, 2026: final billing/batching deadline for specified IDOC/IDJC/ISC-funded encounters, if still current.
July 31, 2026: read-only transition, if still current.
October 1, 2026: access end, if still current.
Operational Checklist
Confirm EHR access, templates, consent, privacy, and record-retention workflow.
Reconcile remaining WITS encounters and billing queues.
Request client and billing data reports through the current DHW process.
Map Magellan/Availity billing workflows separately from clinical-record replacement.
Document audit and retention decisions with counsel or compliance support where needed.
What Not to Confuse
Availity and Magellan transaction tools are not an EHR replacement. A practice still needs a clinical record system, privacy controls, billing reconciliation, claim queues, and denial tracking.

Bomi helps therapy practices turn state enrollment, Magellan credentialing, CAQH maintenance, portal access, eligibility checks, claim routing, denials, and revalidation into an operating workflow instead of a stack of disconnected portals.
Operational note: Idaho Medicaid, Gainwell, Magellan, Molina, UnitedHealthcare, and DHW guidance can change. Verify the current handbook, portal notice, member eligibility, plan assignment, provider record, authorization rule, and claim route before acting on a specific client or date of service.
